Sentinel was established in 2003 as a dedicated conservative imprint within Penguin Group (USA) Inc. It has a mandate to publish a wide variety of right-of-center books on subjects like politics, history, public policy, culture, religion and international relations. The name Sentinel symbolizes a tough-minded defense of America's fundamental values and national interests.
Sentinel's first books were published in the summer of 2004, and the imprint now publishes approximately 10 hardcovers per year, as well as trade paperbacks.

Adrian Zackheim
Adrian Zackheim joined Penguin Group in September 2001 to start a new imprint, Portfolio, the company's business book imprint. He took on the additional role of founder and publisher of Sentinel in April 2003. Zackheim has a long track record of publishing books by notable conservatives, including Margaret Thatcher, Newt Gingrich, and Bob Dole. Before coming to Penguin Group, he was the associate publisher and editor-in-chief of HarperInformation, a division of HarperCollins. His distinguished career has also included editorial positions at William Morrow, Doubleday, and St. Martin's Press.
Bernadette Malone
Bernadette Malone joined Sentinel shortly after its founding in 2003. She was previously an editor at Regnery Publishing in Washington, DC, where she edited three New York Times bestsellers Shakedown by Kenneth Timmerman, Invasion by Michelle Malkin, and Useful Idiots by Mona Charen. Prior to joining Regnery, she was based in Manchester, NH, as the editorial page editor of the Union Leader and New Hampshire Sunday News. She started her career in journalism by covering Congress and the Clinton administration for syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak. Malone has written for National Review and the Weekly Standard, and she has appeared on PBS's Newshour, C-Span's Washington Journal, Fox News Channel's O'Reilly Factor, and other news shows. |
